摘要：This article introduces the conditions and current level of nature protection in Slovakia and Serbia. These not only highlight the beauty and diversity of their nature, but also emphasise that preservation of nature areas and their sustainable use is a basic presumption for healthy national development. The Act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 543/2002 on Nature and Landscape Protection constitutes the legal framework for nature protection in Slovakia. It defines complex nature and landscape protection and differentiates the natural values inherent in several types of nature areas. These are divided into fie levels of protection in the Slovak Republic, and Serbian Acts No. 36/2009 and No. 88/2010 legislate three level of nature protection. We also present smaller areas in both countries with predominantly original ecosystems and protected Nature Reservations affcted to a lesser extent by human activity, and we include protected areas with rare plant and animal species under the highest protection level which are important for scientifi, training and educational purposes.
