摘要:In last decades problems caused by invasive alien species are of growing concern all over the world, including Slovakia. Invasive alien species represent a serious threat to biodiversity and they are inflencing biodiversity conservation also in Slovakia. Proposals how to deal with the issue appeared in 1990s, fist in the academic institutions, later with practical implementation in the state nature conservation institutions (1997). Updated National Biodiversity Strategy 2020 and national legislation, especially nature conservation act, are creating the framework for the management of invasive alien species. Management activities should cover not only eradication and control of listed invasive species, prevention deserves more attntion. However, the fiht against invasive species can not be successful without joint forces of all sectors and active public participation. As these species do not respect borders, cooperation with neighbouring countries is essential.
