  • 摘要:Sand dune habitats are extremely rare in Slovakia and their area is decreasing. One of the main threats is the invasion of aggressive alien neophytes, tree of heaven and black locust. Control methods without herbicide application result in worsening the infestation through the abundance of basal and lateral root sprouting. Large scale effctive management of both species requires combination of chemical and mechanical methods, followed by maintenance of regular management of protected areas. The aim of the EU LIFE Project is to control the invasion of tree of heaven in the SCI Čenkov on the total area of 60ha within the period 2014-2016. The EZ-Ject Lance method with use of glyphosate herbicide will be tested as the appropriate method to control the tree of heaven while preventing damage of surrounding non-target vegetation. This method will be tested in Slovakia for the fist time and the impact of such treatment will be monitored. The cuttngs of black locust trees and sprouts have been done repeatedly on selected sites since autumn 2011. In the fist step the productive trees are cut and treated with chemicals. After the treatment, new sprouts are cut, treated by chemicals and biomass is removed from the site the following spring and autumn. Such management has been implemented in total area of 8.5 ha till present. The inevitable factor for successful restoration of sand dunes and long term maintenance of their favorable status is initiation of grazing immediately after the removal of invasive species.
