摘要：The paper is aimed at the presentation of the Institute of Landscape Ecology, Slovak Academy of Sciences (Institute). It presents structure of Institute, its research activities, international activities and international cooperation, etc. Institute is interdisciplinary organisation for basic and applied landscape ecological research and it is the Centre of excellence for landscape utilization and protection and for biodiversity. Institute is the scientifi and educational organization. The scientifi research activities of Institute are oriented towards the development of the theory and methods of research of ecological properties and processes at the systems level. It is establishment on the four basic pillars: basic scientifi research, applied research, educational activities and popularisation and presentation of the results.
