摘要：The paper summarizes and evaluates the establishment and development of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Teaching of ecology and environmental sciences has brought opportunities for the development of a new fild of study, which was emerging at the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the SAS and the Faculty of Natural Sciences, CPU in Nitra. The relevance of this step has not only been confimed by the successful teacher training and single-subject study graduates, but also the PhD graduates. The importance of the workplace was confimed also by the acquired rights to conduct habilitation and inauguration in the fild of study Protection and Use of Landscape. Currently, the workplace also presents results of research that are accepted in international, reputable scientific journals.
