摘要：Historical maps provide a lot of information about past land for the present: (1) boudary development of the city, cadaster, district, county and state formation; (2) change the names of cities, villages, streams, mountains, roads, streets and town parts; (3) use of language (the transition from Latin to German, Hungarian and Slovak language later on), their use reflects the political situation in the territory; (4) routing roads, fords, bridges and railways first; (5) change meandering streams, migration flows and disappearance of arms; (6) construction of the first flood-protection dams and flood flows regulations; (7) land use, its structure and total changes; (8) ownership relations; (9) historical development of cartographic mapping of the landscape etc. All this information is found on old maps, plans and thematic maps and can be used in the landscape research.
