摘要：In Europe the biggest collective creation is culture whereby the agrarian culture is one of its root. Because of agriculture as the most significant employment for Slovakian inhabitants the culture landscape was created mostly by this activity. Territory of Slovakia is situated in the centre of Europe as well as in Danube Region. It is important place of diffusion of various cultures and nations therefore diversity of agrarian culture is high as well. It is emphasized by nature heterogeneity conditioning landscape and biological diversity. The result is cultural variety of individual regions which is readable just in agricultural landscape. The idea of preservation of cultural wealth heterogeneity, as well as biodiversity protection, is embodied in Danube Strategy. For the successful implementation of goals and spirit of this document it is required knowledge of agricultural landscape and its development as well – regularities and factors inflicting its changes. Permanent grasslands reflect dynamics and changes of whole agrarian culture and landscape. Our contribution presents some results of their research in Slovakia with aim to describe briefly their development trend. Special attention is devoted to traditional permanent grasslands – mosaics presenting relict of old agriculture in Slovakia.
