摘要:This contribution brings together the overview of the activities and partial results within the frame of the GLORIA (The European dimension of the Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments) world-wide network which has been started as the all-European project GLORIA. The purpose of presented research initiative is to establish a long-term observation network for the comparative study of climate change impacts on mountain biota. A crucial precondition to keep such a large-scale network effective in terms of comparability is a standardized sampling design such as Gloria’s Multi-Summit approach. The permanent monitoring plots were established in 2001 within the 18 European regions and in years 2002 – 2011 also in regions in South and North America, Africa, Asia and Australia; the stable consortium has been created. Re-investigation took place in 2008 and robust, valuable and high quality date were produced, analysed and the first comparable study was published. Slovakia is a member of the GLORIA consortium throught the scientific team of Institute of Landscape Ecology SAS since 2001. The permanent plots were established in the alpine belt of the Vysoké Tatry Mts (Sedielkova kopa and Krátka Peaks) and Liptovské kopy Mts (Krížna and Veľká kopa Peaks).
