摘要：The aim of the paper is to present the methodology for diversity assessment of the present landscape which is the result of natural assets and land use. Natural conditions stimulated the social interest during the historic development and spatially differentiated the cultural landscape. Diversity and variability of landscape and conservation of regional differences has become an important social issue especially from the cultural, historic and environmental (eco-stabilizing) points of view. Landscape diversity was analysed according to the real status (land cover) in relation to the natural base (type of natural landscape) using the Shannon and Pielou indexes. Data layers of land cover of Slovakia identified by the CORINE land cover (CLC) method were analysed in different spatial units (districts, types of natural landscape, regular km grid). Results of landscape diversity was interpreted on case studies of Slovakia and the district Skalica in relation to natural conditions and they pointed to the intensity of social interest, human impact and the land use rate.
