摘要:Pannonian saline vegetation, reaching the northernmost occurrence of their area in Slovakia, is the most threatened habitats in the country. The vanishing processes are caused especially by the intensive human activities during the second half of the 20th century – expansion of agriculture, large-scale drainage, afforestation etc. On the brink of extinction have come halophytic plant communities and their species which are surviving on the last known localities. Recently, fragments of such vegetation in Slovakia are the last refuges of several rare, endangered and protected plant species. This fact is reflected by the number of vascular plants in the Red book of Slovakia and the Czech Republic where are listed 23 obligate halophytes, while in the flora of Slovakia there are considered 33 species as obligate halophytes.
