摘要:Riverine landscape consists of heterogeneous dynamic patterns of spatial elements and ecological processes hierarchically structured in space. Natural floodplain-channel systems that indicate the highest heterogeneity that have often been altered resulting in disturbance of it’s structure and functions with negative effects on complex processes in the riverine landscape. Restoration of riverine system should be focused on the recovery of the important natural functions – hydrologic dynamics, sediment transport regimes, aquatic habitats and riparian vegetation to restore the required level of ecological integrity. These endeavors can be linked with extreme events management where the traditional practices of extreme floods and droughts handling by structural measures should be complemented with the ecosystem approach applied to water and land management that creates conditions for sustainable use of natural resources.
