摘要:The small water reservoirs are, with no doubt, very important landscape elements. Primarily they serve for various economic and agricultural purposes, however they also provide suitable environment for broad scale of aquatic organisms. Thus, they can play an important role in the conservation and improvement of the biological diversity. Unfortunately, this secondary function was not studied detail yet, even though most of the Slovakian small reservoirs were constructed more than 60 years ago. In 2008 – 2009, a complex survey of the six small reservoirs was performed in the environment of the Malé Karpaty Mts. Altogether six reservoirs and their inlets and outlets were surveyed. Three of them belong to the Morava River catchment (Lozorno, Vývrat, Kuchyňa), and the remaining three reservoirs belong to the Váh River catchment (Doľany, Suchá nad Parnou, Dolné Dubové). Except describing their biodiversity, the survey included measurements of various environmental parameters. Regarding the results gained during the study, it is clear that the reservoirs differ reasonably, and that the differences correlate with the primary purpose of reservoirs. However, faunistic data suggest their potential as a source of biodiversity, regardless the differences recorded.
