摘要:Spatial organisation of regional systems is a reflection of existing socio-economic processes, as well as that of properties of natural structures and the value relationship “man – environment”. Cognition of spatial structures follows several directions. One of them is represented by what is called the graphic modelling or chorematics. Graphic model represents the picture of geographical reality - spatial structure. Any type of structure can be than defined by their static and dynamic properties in temporal and spatial dimensions, while expression is graphic. The ongoing transformation of society in Slovakia has profiled profound regional disparities. This process will not be finished in short time to come. Regional development is manifested not only in socio–cultural and economic, but also in territorial and settlement patterns. Several factors such as macro-location exposure (west-east gradient), settlement hierarchization, character of settlement, economic specialization of regions, „big“ transport infrastructure, particularities of demographic structure, economic depression of regions in neighbouring countries, nature of administrative division, action ability of self-government, and environmental situation are important for regional differentiation in this period of transformation. The paper attempts to assess the influence of several factors on spatial organisation, regional inequalities and development in two districts (Námestovo and Spišská Nová Ves) that belong to the group of regions most impacted by the transformation. The structural analyses method setting up chorems is used to represent and help to understand spatial organisation and developmental possibilities and limits of the districts studied with emphasis on environmental situation.
