摘要:Slovak landscape ecologists have been actively participating in the tasks of the environmental impact assessment of big constructions and activities including the tasks focused on protection, creation and restoration of the environment since the 1970s. Landscape ecologists along with lawyers, ecologists, geographers, sociologists and other experts have collaborated in tasks related to preparation of the Slovak legislation in the area of environmental impact assessment since 1992. They were co-authors of the Act No. 127/1994 on Environmental Impact Assessment. They also collaborated in regulations to the Act and were the first to test them in practice using the model example of water works ®ilina. The landscape ecology philosophy was transposed into the structure of environmental impact statement as well as to the remaining steps of an assessment. Experience and methodological handbooks formed an appropriate basis for preparation of a new Act No. 24/2006 on Environmental Impact Assessment that became effective on the 1st February 2006.
