  • 摘要:This paper is based on the research of the project GA403/01/0726 „Regional differentiation of the second housing in Czechia. The intensity of second housing in the Plzeň region is comparable with that in the districts around Brno and Ostrava. The beginning of second housing on Western Bohemia are connected with the area of the city of Plzeň. Due to the rapid development of industry in Plzeň, the inhabitants began to take interest in staying in nature. This interest had already become apparent following the First World War, in the form of tramping. The densely afforested river system in particular provided suitable conditions. The first permanent tramping camp was formed in 1924 in the place of the later Hracholusky reservoir. The greatest boom of camp in the Plzeň area dates from 1928 – 1933. The pre-war camps were concentrated in a few place: in the area of the present Hracholusky reservoir, in the area of the flow of the Radbuza, Úslava, Střela and Berounka rivers. At the end of the 1950s, a new phenomenon began to appear – cottage-going. The cause of the rise of cottage-going was mainly for vacation in rural houses due to the population’s migration to towns. In the 1960s, a mass construction of cottage in certain localities began. The first vast cottage localities were concentrated on the bank of the newly build Hracholusky reservoir. The Mladotice area, the area along the river Střela and surroundings of the Bolevec ponds represent the oldest areas of major cottage localities. In the area around the river Střela, small tramping shacks were at first being rebuilt, while in the Hracholusky area, the cottage localities were founded „in a green meadow“. In 1960 – 1962, the rise of 26 cottage settlements was documented. The 1970s and 1980s represent an essentials stage in the development and space spread of second housing in the Plzeň region. In the course of twenty years (1971 – 1991), the original number of recreational structures in the Plzeň region increased by 105 %. The last phase of the development of second housing is influenced by the changes in the society. The research carried out at the end of the 1990s show second housing in the Plzeň region began to stagnate. In the second half 90th years take on the second housing a new value, we can observe of second homes slightly transformed into residential functions. Next we execute the spatial analysis of the distribution of surveyed objects.
