摘要:Mankind needs a new, more responsible ethical attitude towards the environment, as its qualities, now declining, are prerequisites of future evolution of our species. The evolutionary importance of a new ethic is discussed. Though the position of the environmental ethics has not yet been assigned unanimously, it is clear, that it must be based on scientific knowledge, hence working also with similar methods, even if operating rather with values than facts. Nature conservation seems sometimes to be paralyzed when decision between two or more scientifically supported but incompatible actions is required. The in situ and ex situ conservation, keeping down of invasive species but also the global human population growth, all these have their delicate ethical aspects. An effective environmental education should be based on facts about the environment and also on ethic and aesthetic valuation. However, the environmental aesthetics has to reflect not only the visual but also the functional beauty of an ecosystem. The possible incentives for the environmental ethics can be found in bioethics as well as in a call for respecting the other’s values. To this end, deep and patient discussions between ecologists, ecosozologists and philosophers are inevitable.
