摘要:Climatic conditions in Slovakia are different when compared with countries having high wind energy potential (such as Germany, Denmark, and Spain). Also in comparison with the closest neighbours (Czech Republic, Hungary, and Austria) they are less favourable. However, it doesn’t mean that there are not localities convenient for exploitation of wind energy, especially South- West and East Slovakia can be considered. Higher speed and directional variability of wind sets constrains to installing turbines with low power capacity (250 kW up to 1 MW), and in the most appropriate localities up to 1.5 MW. Technological efficiency of such installations is on the standard level and they obviously have their place in the structure of energy production. The legislative and economic conditions are much less favourable than the natural ones. Reduction of energy dependency and progressive diversification of energy sources in Slovakia is impossible without effective support from the national government or from the European Union Structural Funds.
