摘要:The Kopistská dump near the town Most is the example of successful forest reclamation of the landscape devastated by open-cast mining of brown coal. In the sixties of the 20th century there were planted in the area more than 1.2 million seedlings of forest trees in several stages and ca half million shrubs. Now on the dump is ca 300 ha vital 30-40 years old forest stands of different species composition. Besides the planted tree species (some of them introduced – Canadian poplar, black locust, red oak) the original pioneer species are established by natural succession (European white birch, European aspen) as well as climax ones (pedunculate oak). Tens of water bodies can be regarded as the curiosity of the Kopistská dump area. Forest stands, grassy enclaves and water bodies are revived by the fauna of verbebrata and invertebrata. Considering its position in the centre of the Mostecký bioregion as well as its ecological conditions the Kopistská dump plays a key role in the system of ecological stability of the Mostecká pánev basin. Within the territorial system of ecological stability there was proposed a representative regional biocentre and some small local biocentres, although the high isolation of the ecosystem of the Kopistská dump surrounded by important traffic corridors and industrial areas make the problem solving process really difficult.
