摘要:Along the former "iron curtain" unique natural and cultural landscapes have been preserved. That is why the idea of the Green Belt – the longest biocorridor in Europe has born and it has been developed under the IUCN and follow-up projects. The overall aim of the INTERREG III B projects is the protection and sustainable development of the longest system of biotopes in Europe by sensitive valorisation of the natural and cultural heritage. This presumes to transform the former "death belt” into a green "life-line” connecting countries across the CADSES-area. The Green Belt idea wants to demonstrate how nature reserves in the densely populated Middle-Europe can be protected through a sensitive approach and at the same time it can contribute to economic development of the regions neighbouring the Green Belt. Furthermore, the project wants to foster the communication between people living in these regions.
