摘要:The conservation science is forced to revise its classical attitudes and methods. Despite innovations like modern international strategies (those of IUCN, as well as NATURA 2000 and others) it becomes obvious, that we have not been able to change the current negative trends. The extent of protected areas supposed to preserve representative ecological diversity of the biomes is the least satisfactory in ecoregions that are among the most changed by the anthropic pressure. Protection of the status quo is only a recourse saving the results of the hitherto evolution. The conservation science has developed neither an effective concept nor instruments to support the future evolutionary processes (mainly speciation). Catastrophic events in our environment, like that caused by the windstorm in Slovak mountains in November 2004, open the possibility to repair the damage done in the past in the environmental management. They provide us the opportunity to demonstrate the society’s evolutional maturity.
