摘要:The term environmental health was derived from the traditionally used term occupational health that represents the prevention of human health against the risk factors in the occupational environment. In spite of the fact, that the term environmental health is quite new one, its scope is larger and has become extraordinarily important in the last decades. The reason for the development of this new scientific discipline was an urgent need to elucidate the causal relationships between the risk environmental factors and human health aimed at the health prevention. In contrast to infectious diseases, in prevalence the various non-infectious diseases have been increased with respect to changes in the human environment. In a link with this situation, a new branch of the classic epidemiology has been developed. The epidemiology of non-infectious diseases is focused on the illnesses occurring in the last decades as a result of human civilization including the environmental pollution and life style. Since the increase in non-infectious diseases concerns various countries, the methodology for an international and interdisciplinary co-operation in the framework of multilateral scientific projects was developed and implemented. This article deals with the current international research and scientific programs focused on environmental health prevention.
