  • 摘要:Livestock is an important part of the total agricultural activity which, in relation to the predominant crop husbandry in Croatia, creates higher added value, a larger number of jobs and in greater extent contributes to the development indicators of agriculture. The aim of this paper is to describe the importance of animal husbandry in the development of domestic agriculture and the contribution to the gross value added of Croatian and EU agriculture. By calculating the correlation coefficient (r), the correlation between the number of livestock unit per hectare of utilised agricultural area and the gross value added of agriculture, forestry and fisheries also per hectare of utilised agricultural area was determined. In Croatia, the number of livestock units in the period 2011-2016. reduces for all species of animals. The counties with the largest livestock resources (according to the number of livestock units, hereinafter LSU) are: Osijek-Baranja County (266,362.15 LSU), Vukovar-Syrmia County (143,914.8 LSU), Bjelovar-Bilogora County (127,855.15 LSU), Koprivnica-Križevci County (120,784.85 LSU.) and Zagreb County (115,560.05 LSU). If the number of LU is observed relatively, i.e. in relation to the utilised agricultural area, the most livestock units/ ha in 2016 have Zagreb County (1.88), followed by: Koprivnica-Križevci (1.73), Krapina- Zagorje (1.69), Varaždin (1.65) and Bjelovar-Bilogora (1.49), which are also counties in which the gross value added of agriculture, forestry and fishing / ha of utilised agricultural area is among the highest in Croatia. By calculating the correlation coefficient of the number of livestock units / ha of utilized agricultural area and GVA from agriculture, fisheries and forestry / ha of utilized agricultural area for 2015, it is concluded that there is a medium strong correlation between these two variables (r = 0.5744, p≤0.01). The situation is similar at the European Union level where the correlation coefficient is r = 0.686 (p≤0.01). The results point to the fact that animal husbandry, and especially cattle breeding as its most important branch, is important for generating GVA in agriculture, and therefore in Croatia the development of agriculture should be directed towards animal husbandry, especially cattle breeding.
