摘要：Psychological issues are integral components in all areas of behavior, including sports and athletes. The current study attempts to find the relationship of disappointment with self –handicapping and doping tendency in sportsmen in Fars province. This was a field study using a descriptive correlational design. The population of the current study included all sportsmen competing in the selected individual sports (boxing, weightlifting and track and field) and based on Morgan Table, the sample of this study included 384 sportsmen. Sampling method was available random sampling with using a questionnaire distribution.The disappointment questionnaire (Beck, 1979), Doping tendency questionnaire (Petróczi, 2007) and self-handicapping questionnaire (Jones & Rhodewalt, 1982) were used as the instruments of this study. Its reliability was calculated and confirmed using Cronbach's alpha test and combined reliability in PLS software. Descriptive and inferential statistics taken from PLS3 and SPSS24 output were also used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between disappointment and self-handicapping. The results also confirmed the relationship between doping tendency and disappointment. Moreover, based on Sobel test, the hypothesis indicating the effect of disappointment on doping tendency with the self-handicapping as the mediating variable was confirmed.
