摘要：El objetivo de esta investigación historiográfica es recuperar los hechos y circunstancias que envolvieron el boxeo español en la década de 1970 y los condicionantes para que España decidiera no participar en boxeo en los Juegos Olímpicos de Moscú en 1980. Se utilizó la entrevista semiestructurada para recuperar información de ocho fuentes orales y el análisis documental para recuperar y contrastar datos de fondos institucionales y hemerográficos, rescatando también contenidos inéditos del archivo personal de tres boxeadores de la Selección Nacional del periodo objeto de estudio. Al final de la década de 1970 la Federación Española de Boxeo vio disminuidos sus recursos económicos. Ello tuvo consecuencias en las becas de los miembros de la Selección Nacional, en sus circunstancias personales y en su preparación física. Los púgiles más veteranos abandonaron la selección y se produjeron sistemáticas derrotas en los encuentros previos a los Juegos de 1980. La difusión de noticias negativas relativas al boxeo en la prensa y la repudia de un sector social hacia este deporte, fueron algunos otros condicionantes para que el boxeo español sufriera un gran deterioro que afectara de manera local y nacional a los gimnasios y salas utilizadas para su práctica y difusión. Éstas fueron algunas de las causas para que semanas previas a la celebración de los citados Juegos Olímpicos la Federación decidiera que los púgiles seleccionados no asistieran con el resto de la delegación. Aquellos boxeadores sufrieron otras consecuencias y condicionantes ajenos, como resultado añadido a su ausencia en unos Juegos Olímpicos. The aim of this historiographic research is to recover the facts and circumstances that surrounded Spanish boxing in the 1970s and the conditions that led Spain to decide not to participate in boxing in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. The semi-structured interview was used to recover information from eight oral sources and the documentary analysis was used to recover and contrast data from institutional and newspaper collections, also rescuing unpublished content from the personal archives of three boxers of the National Team of the period of study. At the end of the 1970s the economic resources of the Spanish Boxing Federation were reduced. This had consequences on the scholarships of the members of the National Team, on their personal circumstances and on their physical preparation. The older fighters left the national team and there were systematic defeats in the matches prior to the 1980 Games. The diffusion of negative news related to boxing in the press and the repudiation of a social sector towards this sport, were some other conditions for the Spanish boxing to suffer a great deterioration that affected in a local and national way the gyms and places used for its practice and diffusion. These were some of the reasons for the Federation to decide, weeks before the Olympic Games, that the selected fighters would not attend with the rest of the delegation. Those boxers suffered other consequences and external conditions, as a result added to their absence in an Olympic Games.
