摘要:Starting fromtheevents that led to the 2007 financialcrisis, interest in thecontribution ofsocialsciences to debtanalysis has grown steadily. The book The Sociology of Debt edited byMark Featherstoneaims to providethereader with the map ofthe most recent perspectivesand issues on this topic, focusing in particular on thesocialembeddedness of debtand itseffect in the debtor-creditor relationship, both at the micro-level (individualsand families)and the macro-level(between states). However, thiscritical noteargues that theauthors’ goalis only partially achieved. In fact, thetext provides interesting theoreticaland analyticalconsiderations, but:i) part oftheavailablescientificliterature on thesocialroleand implications of debt is ignored; ii) theempiricalanalysis ofthe phenomenon is poorly developed:iii) theappreciableaspiration to multidisciplinarity leads to neglect theextensive knowledgealready existing on debt fromasociological perspective.
