摘要：This article discusses youth civic engagement through media participation in the context of media literacy and production workshop initiative. Embracing practical production in media education which emphasizes the participatory opportunities inherent in communication media, I discuss different modes of civic engagement from young Latina/os living along the U.S.Mexico border. An examination of participatory dynamics surrounding one video production is presented to address issues of discrimination by corporate news media in their representation of the Latina/o community and to challenge the usual portrayal of young audiences as positively disenfranchised from politics.
