摘要:This article analyzes the involvement of Brazilians in the elections, based on the collected data on blank and null votes at the presidential and proportional elections in 1994 and 2014. We started from the assumption that these phenomena are different in nature, therefore, they are associated with a different set of variables. We offer evidence which is partly compatible with this assumption, although it is necessary to highlight variations observed concerning the office positions disputed and the type of ballot voting system adopted. The data were extracted from official sources, with the unit of analysis being Brazilian municipalities.
