摘要：The study is focused on a characterization of Latin American journals indexed in SciELO, Scopus and Web of Science in the area of Engineering and Technology, and also is analyzed the observed differences between countries through socioeconomic variables. As a result, the number of journals indexed in the thematic area is low, representing less than 10% among the three databases. The socioeconomic variables showed a relationship between the number of indexed journals and their impact indicators, and highlighted the higher relationship shown with the Public Expenditure on R&D in the countries, which indicates the importance of the governments investment in the presence and impact of the journals in the main regional and international databases.
