摘要：Se analizan las causas por las cuáles la literatura antártica nacional muestra un cauto silencio desde la entrada en vigor del Tratado Antártico (TA) en Chile, en 1961. Por una parte, se pretende explicar cómo fueron entendidos los compromisos que el país había adquirido al suscribir el TA; y por otra, identificar quiénes eran considerados como los especialistas antárticos más influyentes, y cuáles eran sus opiniones sobre el tema. En cuanto a las fuentes, se utilizaron principalmente revistas especializadas y artículos del diario La Unión de Valparaíso. Con el afán de conseguir una mirada académica e independiente, se utilizó un mínimo de documentación oficial.
其他摘要：This article analyzes why the Chilean Antarctic literature kept a cautios silence since the Antarctic Treaty entered into force in 1961. On the one hand, this work aims to explain how the public opinion understood the commitments that Chile had acquired by signing the Treaty. On the other hand, it identifies the names and views of the most influencial Chilean figures in Antarctic matters at that time. Regarding the sources, this work relies mostly upon articles published by specialized journals and material press, mainly from the newspaper La Unión de Valparaíso. In order to achieve a more independent view this article incorporates only a few official documents.
