摘要:Mode Deactivation Therapy (MDT) was conceptualized in the late 1990s after recognizing that traditional and other cognitive behavioral approaches appeared to be failing to treat adolescents with behavioral and comorbid problems effectively. By adopting a solution-based approach with a nonjudgmental awareness of present experiences but with insight gained from past roots, these adolescents were treated effectively with less resistance and attrition, and remarkable behavioral outcome effects that also appear to be stable. The current study is an update of a previous meta-analysis whereby the selection of studies is reviewed to ensure integrity and distinctiveness of data, add more recent studies to the synthesis, and re-establish proof of the effectiveness, superiority, consistency, and statistical significance of the MDT research that has been done to date. The objectives were achieved with the selection of 12 distinctive data sets that were generated in field experimentation between 2002 and 2013. Outcome effect results were statistically sound and strong, and there was a remarkable consistency in the achievement of outcome goals between the studies. In addition, MDT excelled with an improvement in Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI-2) scores at post-treatment of more than 32%. In comparison, the treatment-as-usual control groups only improved marginally (less than 4%). With few small exceptions, the MDT results were consistent between studies and all effect sizes were high. This synthesis of multiple research studies with a combined 699 participants proved that MDT is ready to proliferate as preferred treatment for adolescents with behavioral problems, and could also be explored with adults with behavioral and trauma-based conditions.
