摘要:The objective of this study was to describe the provision of sugary cereals by early childhood education (ECE) centers participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) before required implementation of the updated CACFP meal pattern standards. We distributed a web-based survey, which included a question on breakfast cereals, to a random sample of 5,483 CACFP-participating ECE centers nationwide. Of the 1,343 centers that responded, 30% did not meet the updated requirement for cereal; 38% of independently owned or operated centers did not meet the requirement. Results indicate the need for additional training and technical assistance on the updated CACFP standards for sugar in cereal.
