摘要:Searches in 2012 have been conducted in order to determine the ruins of Hypaepa, to form its plan and its spread area, but its immediate surrounding and transportation connections have been evaluated in 2013. Hypaepa is a city in ancient Lydia draws attention in terms of its geographical position and its important ruins that belong to Persian period. In respect of the date of establishment, it believes that Achaemenid Period had been formed in the effect of a temple of Anahita culture and solemn area. In particular, Artemis-Anaitis (Anahita) depictions on Hypaepa coins indicate that it has an importance as a center of worship of the emperor. Some studies related to the ancient city’s transport system have been carried out during the surface studies in Hypaepa and its around in the summer of 2013. Some observations have been made by walking on the southern slopes of Tmolos from Sardis to Hypaepa and some remnants of a narrow road have been found. The descending road through the slopes on Little Meander bears city’s acropolis. This short road between Ephesus-Sardis has a certain importance against all obstacles and challenges. In the second part of our study, the system that lies from Hypaepa to the west has been focused and some observations in Üzümlü Village in the west of the ancient city have been made. Hypaepa which is cross roads of the roads that lie through the north of Kaystros Plain has a strategic location on Little Meander Valley. Sardis in this location is located on the route from Ephesus in the west, Dioshieron and Neikeia in the east. Moreover, the city must be considered as an important centre on the Persian Royal Road system because of its location and sanctuaries of Persian Anahita which mentioned by ancient writers.
