摘要:This paper aims to "translate" Karl Marx's ideas about alienation into the modern medical context. Reasons for alienation in medicine are the growing introduction of new technologies and market values in medicine. Marx’s idea for alienation from the product is explained by applying the argument “medical method, for non-medical purposes” to cosmetic surgery. The area of cosmetic surgery is preoccupied by market values. The physician does not own his/her product. Alienation from productive activity is applied to telemedicine it represents the ethical conflict between telemedicine and in-person care. Whenever telemedicine care doesn’t follow ethical principles of telemedicine the medical expert alienates from his/her productive activity – taking care of the patient with compassion. We illustrate this with a case on delivering bad news in telemedicine.
