摘要：In this study, Netflix original series Stranger Things (2016- ) is analyzed based on the concepts of intertextuality and nostalgia, which are widely used in postmodern narratives. That the intertextuality in the series makes use of nostalgia to reach the world of certain texts enabled the use of these two concepts within this study. Stranger Things pictures the 1980s with its plot, theme, characters, and visual arrangements, in a sense it presents a collage of the series and films of the 1980s which were the popular culture products of the time. The objective of the study is to suggest that the Netflix original content was fed more by intertextual connections and a pastiche of nostalgic motives, parallel to the developing technology. Therefore, the study is important in that it tries to exemplify the expansion of postmodern narrative in new television media based on the intertextuality theory. In the study, the values system of the postmodern narrative is used with a descriptive attitude. The functioning of intertextual relationships is based on Roland Barthes’ approach that the themes forming the text are interpreted by the audience. The approaches of Fredric Jameson, Linda Hutcheon, and Svetlana Boym are used for reconstruction of the images of the past through the concepts of nostalgia and pastiche. In this context, the study argues that intertextuality and nostalgia are consciously included in the series in order to establish a link between the old and the new. The series is one of the successful examples of postmodern narrative with its thematic and stylistic orientations.
其他摘要：Bu çalışmada Netflix orijinal dizisi Stranger Things (2016- ), postmodern anlatılarda çokça yer alan metinlerarasılık ve nostalji kavramlarından yola çıkılarak analiz edilmektedir. Dizide yer alan metinlerarasılığın birtakım metinlerin dünyasına erişirken nostaljiyi aracı kılması, çalışmada iki kavram üzerinde durulmasına yol açmıştır. Stranger Things konusu, izleği, karakterleri ve görsel düzenlemeleri itibariyle 1980’li yıllara öykünmekte, bir bakıma 1980’li yılların popüler kültür ürünlerinin, dizi ve film evreninin kolajını yapmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı Netflix orijinal içeriğinin, gelişen teknolojiye koşut olarak metinlerarası ilişkilerden ve pastiş aracılığıyla gerçekleşen nostaljik motiflerden daha fazla beslendiğini ortaya koymaktır. Bu bakımdan çalışma, metinlerarasılık teorisi temelinde postmodern anlatının yeni televizyon mecralarındaki yayılımını örneklemek açısından önemlidir. Çalışmada betimleyici bir tutumla postmodern anlayışın değerler dizgesinden faydalanılmıştır. Metinlerarası ilişkilerin işleyişi anlamlandırılırken, Roland Barthes’ın metni oluşturan tüm izleklerin izleyicide toplandığı yönündeki yaklaşımına yaslanılmıştır. Nostalji ve pastiş kavramları aracılığıyla geçmişin imgelerinin yeniden kurulması, Fredric Jameson, Linda Hutcheon ve Svetlana Boym’un yaklaşımlarıyla ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda metinlerarası ilişkilerin ve nostaljinin diziye bilinçli bir şekilde eklemlenerek, eski ve yeni arasında bağ kurulduğu savunulmaktadır. İzleksel ve biçimsel yönelimleriyle dizi, postmodern anlatının başarılı örneklerinden biridir.
