摘要:Numerous flm clip databases are available for elicitng emotonal states in humans. Some of the databases have been validated through self-reported questonnaires based on the discrete emotons perspectve. In this study we analyzed some of these flm clips using a sofware to assess emotonal facial expression in humans. To do so, we selected 12 emotonal stmuli (two for each emoton assessed). Other flm clips containing basic mathematcal operatons were used as distractor stmuli. In total, 65 healthy volunteers partcipated in this study. We performed statstcal analyses to compare differences in the discrete emotonal intensites of each stmulus and compared these intensites with the distractor stmuli. Although the emotonal facial recogniton sofware was able to clearly detect discrete emotons for some stmuli (happiness and anger), some inconsistencies were found between previous self-reported emotonal assessments studies and the data obtained with this sofware. Our results also showed that flm clip stmuli present a complex emotonal profle, making it difcult to classify them into discrete categories. Sofware to detect facial emotonal expression may therefore be a useful tool for investgatng emotons and the emotonal profles of flm clip stmuli. However, further studies are needed to corroborate our results.
