摘要:The present article aims to carry out a comparative study of constructions like la chose que j’aime c’est la linguistique ‘The thing I like is linguistics’ and pseudo-clefts, with the goal of answering the following questions: are these two structures strictly speaking in competition? Do they occur in the same kind of constructions? What are the specifc properties of each? A systematic examination of both oral and written corpora will reveal that, though close in many respects, these two constructions are far from being systematically interchangeable. Each of them has syntactic and semantico-referential properties, which carry repercussions on the pragmatic level.
