摘要:The prey composition of the stream-dwelling planarian Girardia anceps (Kenk 1930) was studied under laboratory conditions. Acceptability-of-food simple tests with ten kinds of invertebrates showed that the planarian seldom feeds on gastropods, amphipods, or adult Elmidae (Coleoptera) even though they are dead or wounded. Oligochaetes and insects, especially larvae of Chironomidae and Simuliidae, seem to be the staple food for this species. Planarians mostly attacked wounded prey, but there is no evidence that they use distant chemodetection mechanisms to capture the preferred preys.
