摘要:Weight and length data for tiger muskellunge Esox lucius x Esox masquinongy were solicited from biologists across the continent to develop a 75th-percentile standard weight (W s ) equation for the hybrid. Only 27 populations (N = 1,124 fish) from 9 states yielded adequate data sets for this process. We used a bootstrap technique to demonstrate that the limited number of populations used was adequate to develop a reliable standard weight equation. Sample variance of slopes was less than 0.002 and bias was minimal with only 19 populations. The standard weight relationship was derived with the regression-line-percentile technique applied to fish over 240 mm (approximately 10 in). The proposed equation is log 10 W s = -6.126 3.337log 10 TL, where W s is the weight in grams and TL is the total length in millimeters. The English equivalent (pounds and inches) is log 10 W s = -4.095 3.337log 10 TL. No regional trends in the slopes of the log transformed weight-length data were observed. Fish from western populations however, tended to be plumper than their eastern counterparts.
