Potter's Wheel, of Roanke, Texas, will be in concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 1821 S.W. 37th, in a fund-raising concert to benefit the Hispanic outreach ministry of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in East Topeka.
The six-member group, which released its first album in January titled "Vessels of Mercy," has performed in Texas, Louisiana and the central United States.
Potter's Wheel is a nonprofit Christian music ministry with the goal of encouraging people to enter into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God. It aims to accomplish this through "becoming God's healing for the wounds of others."
The concert is free of charge, and a love offering will be taken.
What it means to be a congregationalist, a class offered through the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church, 104 E. 4th, will be at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of August and September at the church in Maple Hill.
The focus of the class will be to explore different Christian denominations in America and do a comparative analysis. It will look at the roots of Puritan and Congregational traditions in the Protestant Reformation and the old Church in England.
Additionally, the class will look at the Maple Hill Church history and the congregational teaching in America.
The class will be taught by Andrew McHenry, pastor at the church.
Further information may be obtained by calling (785) 256-4277 or visiting the church Web site at www.maplehillchurch.com.
