TriWest reaches out to guard, reserve
Even before TRICARE Reserve Select--a new health--care program for National Guard and Reserve personnel--began in April, TriWest Healthcare Alliance launched an aggressive effort to inform deployed men and women and their families about their new benefits.
That effort has touched tens of thousands of our nation's defenders in 21 western states. It's still going strong.
The toughest part of TriWest's effort is to reach those who live in rural communities. So, through the spring and summer a team traveled to Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington state. TriWest executives, including president and CEO David McIntyre Jr., and TRICARE Regional Office-West Director RADM Nancy Lescavage, joined the team at various locations.
They met with Guard, Reserve, and Coast Guard commanders, servicemembers and their families, state leaders, TRICARE network providers, and with the military and civilian press to help promote the new benefit. TriWest sponsored community fairs and conducted briefings and town halls for returning troops and their families.
