Meet our incoming national president

Our new national ROAL, president, to be sworn in at the Salt Lake City Convention, is Betty Hammer. A member of the Atlanta ROAL club and the Department of Georgia, Betty resides in Augusta, Ga., with her husband, COL Wade Hammer, AUS (Ret). Betty is a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Florida and Georgia. She is an alumna of Carson Newman College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Betty and Wade have two married children, Robert and his wife Karen, and Joanna and husband Wade Dykes reside in the Atlanta area. Grandchildren are Austin and Hannah Dykes and William (Will) Hammer.

During Operations Desert Shield aim Desert Storm, Betty served proudly with the Family Support Group of Colonel Hammer's U.S. Army Reserve unit, the 382nd Field Hospital, during mobilization and deployment of the unit to Saudi Arabia.

Betty is very active with Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Augusta, where she serves on the church council and is a member and past chairperson of the wedding commit tee. She is also an active member of the Magnolia Garden Club, having served in all positions including several terms as president. She was recently promoted to companion in the Hospitaller Order of St. John. Betty serves as a community volunteer and participant in various fired drives and activities. She is, above all, a dedicated patriot and family supporter.
