Little relief in sight at NCUA
Thursday's NCUA Board meeting may add more regulations for credit unions. But Dennis Dollar's regulatory relief proposal has been removed.
"For credit unions nationwide, there's a big hole in the agenda," observed CUNA President & CEO Dan Mica. "'Reg Flex' is an example of creative safety and soundness supervision that is sorely needed by credit unions, but is being given scant attention by the agency. NCUA is showing little vision."
Referring to his speech at the CUNA Symposium (NewsWatch, Oct. 9), Mica reminded, "That was an invitation. I now invite the NCUA Board to pass 'Reg Flex' as proposed at its next opportunity -- and begin taking on a new attitude and positive purpose for credit union regulation."
