Vinnie's back for 60 seconds of West End fame

VINNIE JONES made a hero's return to London last night at the premiere of his latest film Gone In 60 Seconds. The former Wimbledon soccer player was cheered by hundreds of fans as he arrived in Leicester Square.

Jones, 35, who made his movie debut in Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, clearly enjoyed the reception he was given from 1,500 fans. "This is what it's all about," he said, as he arrived with football stars Dennis Wise and John Fashanu, plus a burly minder. "He's not my minder really," Jones said. "He's an old pal of mine but we couldn't get enough tickets so I'm trying to sneak him in."

Gone In 60 Seconds stars Nicolas Cage who did not attend the premiere - as a reformed car thief lured back to his old ways to save his younger brother from execution at the hands of the mob. He reassembles his old crew including Angelina Jolie, Robert Duvall and a mute character played by Vinnie Jones.

Other guests included Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood - drinking alcohol- free beer at the after-show party at Mezzo following a spell of rehab in the Priory - with his wife Jo, and jockey Frankie Dettori with his wife Catherine.
