Compiled by Nina CulverWhitworth hosts lectures on poverty, youth
Authors Tom and Christine Sine will speak on "Social Justice in a Post-9/11 World" Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Seeley Mudd Chapel on the Whitworth College campus. The free lecture will address how national concerns about poverty are changing as the nation focuses on fighting terrorism.
Tom Sine is the author of "Mustard Seed vs. McWorld: Reinventing Life and Faith for the Future." He founded and directs the Mustard Seed Association in Seattle and co-authored a newly released book titled "Living on Purpose: Finding God's Best for Your Life" with his wife.
Both Sines are adjunct professors at Fuller Theological Seminary. Christine, who is also a physician, is the author of "Tales of Seasick Doctor: Life Aboard a Mercy Ship."

* Dean Borgman will speak on youth culture Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Seeley Mudd Chapel at Whitworth. The lecture, which is geared toward pastors and youth directors, is titled "With Eyes Wide Open: Youth Culture and Today's Society."
Borgman is the author of "When Kumbaya is Not Enough" and is a professor of youth ministries at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He also teaches courses at Fuller Theological Seminary and at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Seminary.
