ETA gunmen kill politician in garage
TIM BROWNBASQUE separatist terror organisation ETA last night murdered a leading Spanish socialist politician - the group's 21st killing this year, writes Tim Brown.
Ernest Lluch, 63, who served as minister of health in the first post-Franco socialist government of the early Eighties, was shot twice in the back of the head after returning from Barcelona's university, where he was professor of economic history.
His body was found in the garage of his home in the city shortly before midnight after the killers blew up a car 500 yards from the scene.
Mr Lluch, a father of three daughters, had once lived in the Basque region.
