Retreats

Inland Northwest ministers are invited to the Greater Spokane Area Pastors' Prayer Retreat, offered by the Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals, Jan. 25-26 at Riverview Bible Camp.

The $30 fee includes food and lodging; scholarships are available. Participants will meet at 8 a.m. Jan. 25 in the parking lot of Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard, and return by 3 p.m. Jan. 26. Call Dan Grether at 468-4855. Pinelow Park Campground and Retreat Center on Deer Lake will be the site of a Family Winter Retreat Jan. 29-31 for the Northwest District of the Church of the Nazarene. The weekend will include workshops for all ages, children's programs, teen events and family activities, such as sledding (snow permitting), snowman-building contests and hayrides. Cost, including meals and lodging, is $50 for adults, $27 for teenagers and $25 for children. Kids 3 and under are free. Call the camp at 233-2367. Seminars The annual Northwest Theological Symposium presents "Christ and the New Millennium: A Lutheran View of the Apocalypse" at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at Gonzaga University. Craig Koester of Luther Seminary will speak on "Revelation and the End of All Things." Cost: $20 before Friday, $25 after. Call Eric Dull at 747-6677. "Truth: When Drawing Lines is Not Rude" will be presented by Christ the Redeemer Church next Friday and Saturday at the Woman's Club, 1428 W. Ninth. Workshops and programs will be available for children, teenagers and adults. Workshop topics will include "Truth in Conflict," "Truth in Fiction," "Truth and Raising Children," "Truth and Raising Teenagers" and "Truth in Love, Sex and Marriage." A separate program will be offered for children through grade six. Cost, $20 per family or $15 per person, includes refreshments, luncheon and materials. (456-0982) Video prophecy series The Valley Alliance Church, 11111 E. 16th, will show a video prophecy series at 6 p.m. each Sunday through February. The series, which begins Sunday, will focus on "end-time events" and how they relate to the return of Christ. Activities are planned for children through the sixth grade. (924-8020) Jewish friendship group A newly formed Chavurah - Jewish friendship group - will meet at 7 p.m. every other Friday at the Spokane Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive. The next meeting will be Jan. 22. Call Gary Singer at 747-5284. Miracle celebration Healing Waters Ministries will host a miracle celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Corbin Senior Activity Center, 827 W. Cleveland. The program will include testimonies on the healing power of prayer, musical performances and a prayer for the sick. A potluck lunch at 12:30 will precede the program. (879-4006)
