Secretary wins 2m bonus
JASON CORCORANA LONDON secretary has been rewarded for her 14 years of service with a 2.25 million bonus after her boss's company was taken over.
Angela Hudson, who still commutes to London every day from her home in Hampshire, received the money after cashing in share options in leading city investment group Jupiter Asset Management.
Ms Hudson, 43, began working for the investment broker John Duffield in 1986 taking dictation and looking after his personal diary for 150a-week. She stayed loyal and became a millionaire earlier this year when Jupiter was taken over by Commerzbank, Germany's fifth-largest bank. Forty other senior employees, including directors, also became millionaires while junior members of staff collected 200,000 after the takeover.
Ms Hudson, a single woman, recently moved from her two-bedroom terrace house in Sussex to a 750,000 mansion near Winchester. She still works at Jupiter as a senior secretary, having made the decision not to work for Mr Duffield's new venture because of the long hours involved.
A colleague said: "Angela is a down-to-earth, private person who was very loyal to John Duffield and is very grateful to him."
