County commission to consider sewer study

One Shawnee County district's budget will be a little lighter Thursday, if commissioners decide to update a sewer study.
The Department of Public Works will request an amendment to Shawnee County Contract No. C101-97 to do a current study on the sewer system. The last study was completed in 1997.
All costs will be paid by Shawnee County Sewer District No. 33, and funds are available in the district's budget.
Commissioners will also present Lola Hobbs, a cook, and Kenneth Warrior, a correctional specialist, both of the Shawnee County Department of Corrections, with certificates of appreciation for their dedicated service to their departments.
Hobbs has worked at the department for 25 years, and Warrior has worked there for 10 years.
Commissioners will meet next at 9 a.m. Thursday in the county courthouse, Room B-11.
Other actions on the agenda:
- Consider a request to waive solicitation of bids and proceed with design work to correct storm water drainage and sanitary sewer problems in Sherwood Professional Park.
- Consider plans and specifications for the Shawnee Garden Subdivision Phase IV Street Benefit District and Shawnee County Sewer District No. 72, Lateral Sewer District No. 5 projects and request to solicit bids for same.
- Consider a contract for occupational therapy services.
- Consider a contract for physical therapy services.
- Consider a request for professional medical and health care services.
- Consider extending a blanket bid with Downing Sales for purchase of containers.
- Consider a request to purchase new compost turner and loader.
- Consider a request for a pay step increase for Division Manager.
- Consider a request for participation of the purchasing officer to serve on a planning committee of the Office of Minority and Women Business Development of the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing for a procurement seminar.
- Consider a request from Landmarks Commission Chairman to fund out-of-state travel allowing him to attend the National Association of Preservation Commission educational forum in Pittsburgh, Pa.
