NIH Will Dedicate Paul G. Rogers Plaza
Marc SternReporters are invited to cover the dedication of the Paul G. Rogers Plaza at the National Institutes of Health main campus in Bethesda, Md. The dedication ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in front of NIH Building One. The Honorable Paul G. Rogers, who represented his Florida District in the U.S. House of Representatives for 24 years, introduced major legislation that helped improve people's health. For example, he was instrumental in creating the National Cancer Act, which launched the "War on Cancer," and the Research on Aging Act. In the Congress, Mr. Rogers was a tireless advocate for medical research and public health. Among his many current activities, Mr. Rogers is Chairman of the Board of Research!America.
