NIH Holds Groundbreaking for New Clinical Research Facility
Office of the DirectorFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, Colleen Henrichsen, Sara Byars, 301-496-2563Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center will be held Nov. 4 at 9:45 a.m. at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.
The new center will be a cutting-edge research facility with a 250-bed hospital, outpatient care capability and research laboratories. The project promises to increase opportunities for physicians and patients to participate in state-of-the-art clinical research. The building is expected to be completed in 2001.
The ceremony will be held directly in front of the Clinical Center (building 10) at the intersection of West and Center Drives on the NIH campus. Further program details will follow. Media representatives planning to attend the ceremony should preregister with Ms. Henrichsen or Ms. Byars.
